Little Bear is home in this month's QBM theme. Where is Little Bear's home?

Each month the Quilt Block Mania participating designers share a block pattern inspired by the month's theme. The pattern is free for the month. I'll be designing and giving away a block each month reflecting the Quilt Block Mania monthly theme, however, my block designs will also follow my Year of Bears theme. The QBM theme for June is "Mountains".

This month Little Bear is right at home in the mountains. He's out for a hike wearing his sturdy hiking boots. He has a walking stick and a back pack carrying... Hmm... What is in his back pack? 

Hiking Bear is the free 12" block pattern I'm giving this month. This block pattern will only be free to download for the month of June.

 It was so fun to see the hiking boots come to life once the shoe laces were added. Stitching was done with a single strand of floss using and outline stitch and small French knots.

When I started this, I had no idea how much fun designing these would be! Each month I fall more in love with this sweet Little Bear! I have 20 blocks already designed. There will be 6 more monthly blocks, plus 4 more bonus blocks. Why 20? I wanted to give you setting options. A setting with four blocks across and 5 blocks down would equal 20 blocks. In the months of November and December I will be sharing some setting options with 20 blocks, 12 blocks and more! I've begun playing with designs and these quilts are going to be so cute!
