Desert Bear

Desert Bear

Welcome Little Bear Fans!

Little Bear is doing a bit of exploring with this month's QBM theme.

Each month the Quilt Block Mania participating designers share a block pattern inspired by the month's theme. The pattern is free for the month. I'll be designing and giving away a block each month reflecting the Quilt Block Mania monthly theme, however, my block designs will also follow my Year of Bears theme. Collect all the blocks and make a quilt at the end of the year. If you missed any of the previous blocks, you can read about them on the blog HERE and visit my online shop to purchase.

The QBM theme for April is "Desert".

No, we're not talking the sweet "dessert" you get at the end of a meal. Nope, we're talking the dry, baren land where it's often very hot and cactus thrive. But the desert can be quite interesting and Little Bear is off to explore. He's got a nice wide brimmed hat to protect him from the sun and water bottle to keep him hydrated.

Desert Bear is the free 12" block pattern I'm giving this month. Details on how to get your free block pattern is at the bottom of this post. You will also find the links to all the other QBM participating designers. This block pattern will only be free to download for the month of May. After that time, you'll be able to purchase the pattern in my online shop.

Not much in extra tips to give this time. Follow the pattern for suggested embroidery stitches.

Bonus Block

The weather is so fickle in Spring. One day it's sunny, the next it's rainy. What do you do when it's raining? If you're little bear, you grab your umbrella, take a walk and whistle or sing out loud. Rainy Day Bear is the bonus block this month!

Make the block your own by choosing to embellish the umbrella and rain boots with embroidery like I did or choose a fun multi-colored print.
