Let It Snow - Block 5

Block 5 combines an appliqué block with a 8" pieced star. Complete instructions for making Block 5 are found in the pattern. In this month's blog I'll share a few extra tips for making the block as well as a few close-up images.

• The little squirrel has some pretty small patches, especially the ears. With a little patience the ears can be appliquéd, but if you're not up for the challenge, they can also be satin stitched.  

• Decorate your tree! The pattern shows a single strand of garland wrapping around the tree. I chose to do a chain stitch, but it would be cute with other decorative stitches or possibly trim of some kind. You could also add other decorations besides just the ornament balls.
